Ron Thiele
Ron Thiele is an experienced researcher, copywriter and editor specialising in education and training (particularly the vocational education and training system), health education, and environment and natural resource management.
Ron wrote or edited some of Australia's major education and training reform reports as well as national strategies and major ministerial statements. He has worked for industry skills councils in entertainment, public safety, building and construction and public administration to research and write training packages and user-friendly training and assessment resources for small businesses, and to promote training and apprenticeships. Ron has evaluated education websites and investigated user requirements for the national vocational education and training portal. He has also researched, written several workforce planning and skill needs studies.
First involved in the groundbreaking 1970s Life. Be in it. campaigns, Ron developed major communications campaigns for preventing HIV/AIDS, quitting smoking, preventing alcohol and other drug misuse; and building the self-esteem of young people. He authored the world's first AIDS Prevention Education Strategy. He has also researched and developed campaigns for injecting drug users, parents, health workers and other workers.
Ron has researched, written and edited performance reports about water supply, sewerage and catchment management. He has developed strategies for many public sector organisations and investigated training needs for the plumbing industry and for the national energy efficiency initiative. He has also written or edited several publications for the general public on natural resource management.
Ron was for many years Secretary of the Society of Editors (Victoria).
Christine Nagel
Christine Nagel is an accomplished trainer, editor and publications manager.
Christine lectures at Victoria University to Diploma of Professional Writing students and previously lectured and tutored at Curtin University in professional writing and editing. She has conducted workshops for the Victorian Writers Centre, the Perth International Arts Festival and lectured for several years at the University of Western Australia's Practical Editing program. Christine runs regular workshops for authors, helping them have their work commercially published, and runs professional development writing classes for Victoria University staff.
Christine has experience in editorial commissioning and management; in structural and copyediting; and in manuscript assessment and reporting. She has edited several regular publications including Homes & Living Magazine (Perth), Police Life (Victoria Police) and Write Away (Western Australian State Literature Centre). She also has extensive experience writing commissioned and freelance feature articles for print and online media, websites, corporate and government publications.
Christine has a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
